Restoring the Cape Floristic Region through sustainable innovation.

Our Vision

Resilient local communities realised through building sustainable green economies, supported by functioning natural systems and biodiversity conservation.

We innovate by introducing an engineered biochar production model that is completely agnostic to invasive biomass variables such as species composition, size, volume, and quality. To promote technological independence and avoid reliance on expensive foreign imports, we support locally designed and manufactured affordable, modular Aether Kilns pyrolysis units, engineered to meet strict Puro.earth standards to unlock high-integrity CORCs to drive project revenues.

To address the strategic challenges associated with adding value to cleared invasive alien plants characterised by highly variable biomass that prevents traditional commercial products from self-funding landscape-scale clearing, we crafted a financially viable circular economy model based on the production of engineered biochar and Puro.earth CO2 Removal Certificates (CORCs) designed to transition invasive plant management from a net financial loss into a self-sustaining enterprise.

We integrate ecological remediation, climate mitigation, agricultural adaptation, and carbon finance into a single self-sustaining economic model. By connecting invasive biomass clearing directly with high-integrity Puro.earth carbon removal markets, local agriculture, and water resource management, we bridge the divide between non-profit conservation mandates and commercial viability. This integrative model replaces perpetual dependence on third-party grants with a dual-revenue engine, positioning our initiative as a replicable template for ecological restoration in the Cape Floristic Region.

We incubate local socio-economic-environmental resilience by delivering critical climate adaptation benefits through engineered biochar, such as improving agricultural soil water retention, nutrient cycling, and drought endurance in the agricultural sector. Our approach incubates community capacity through direct employment and specialized skills development over a 15-year horizon. By focusing on decentralized replication rather than central scaling, we incubate socio-economic development in nodes across the Cape Floristic Region.

We catalyse landscape-level restoration by pioneering a differentiated funding strategy designed for institutions aligned with long-term environmental stewardship rather than short-term commercial profit. Initial seed funding enables revenues generated from dual engineered biochar and CORC sales to repay the initial capital within a five-year payback period. Combined with carbon streaming forward-contracts, this revolving investment model continuously recycles repaid capital to catalyse new regional production nodes across the Cape Floristic Region.
